BOSTON (WHDH) - The office of Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey confirmed Thursday it is investigating the cancellation of the IndyCar Boston race.
Subpoenas were sent this week to IndyCar, Boston Grand Prix, and its CEO John Casey.
Healey met with the parties involved on Wednesday and said they need to devise an immediate plan for paying people back.
The race was originally scheduled for Labor Day Weekend in the Seaport District.
A spokesperson for Healey released a statement Thursday:
“No company in Massachusetts is allowed to market a major event, sell tickets to thousands of people, and then pull up stakes without giving people back the money they are owed. Consumers were promised a quick refund, but were instead left high and dry. We are investigating these companies to ensure that ticket holders are made whole, and are prepared to litigate if they do not comply.”
