AUBURN, MASS. (WHDH) - The Auburn Police Department is holding a raffle to raise money for the family of fallen Officer Ronald Tarentino.

Tarentino was shot and killed by a motorist during a traffic stop in May.

The department said the raffle is in honor of Tarentino’s love of Mustangs, an “aficionado and proud owner.”

The vehicle is a 2016 Ford Mustang GT California Special. The estimated value of the vehicle is $43,000.

Tickets are $50 each and only 2,000 will be sold. The tickets will be sold in-person only at the Auburn Police Department, the Cars of Summer show, and at the Auburn Fireworks Show at the Pappas Athletic Complex.

The drawing will take place at the Auburn Elks cruise night on August 26.

Auburn Police noted in their Facebook post that Auburn Police and family members are not eligible, winners must pay taxes on the vehicle, and buying tickets is not a tax-deductible donation.
