Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal shooting at a Norwood apartment complex on Monday morning.

Edison Tejeda, 28, a resident of the Stone Bridge Apartments, was found by officers at the rear entrance of a building with several gunshot wounds.

A call came in alerting police to the sound of either fireworks or gunshots at the Dean Street apartment complex shortly before 2 a.m. Monday.

Tejeda was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. He had a previous address on North Main Street in Brockton.

Police are now seeking the public’s help with their investigation. On Monday the District Attorney appealed to the public:

Those who knew Edison Tejeda and may have known his movements in the period before his murder can help us piece together what has happened here,” District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey said Monday afternoon. “Detectives are actively interviewing those of his family and friends whom we have identified, but anyone who may have information about this crime or about Edison’s activities before the murder are asked to contact police at 781-440-5181.

There have been no arrests, but District Attorney Michael Morrissey and Chief William Brooks III said the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public.

The death was the first homicide in town since 2008.
