While you were making comparisons on how much (or little) October 15, 2015 matched the movie, Back to the Future II, Mother Nature was living for the here and now: cooling us off through the afternoon, then preparing to warm us up tomorrow.
Yes, this seesaw in temperatures will continue. Unlike me (in my younger days), you can’t suddenly jump off this seesaw (much to the chagrin of my sister who always went crashing to the ground) whenever you feel like it. We’re along for the ride, as changeable as it will be.
Case in point: the next 48 hours. We’ll go from near 70 tomorrow back down to the low 50s on Friday! For what it’s worth, this is the wildest swing in temps that I see in the next 7 days. After we go through that, there will be another one between Sunday and Monday. However, this two day combo seems a bit more subdued as we go from 60s to 50s.
Why the schizophrenic temperatures? There are two jet streams battling it out over North America. One to the north occasionally dips south to deliver the cold. The one to the south occasionally lifts north to provide the warmth. We are in a perfect position to sample each as they flex their muscles in the coming days.
Next week, it may all settle out as the cold gets the upper hand, but I wouldn’t totally discount the warmth just yet.
Something heavy to think about as we venture into November.
