Steve Bannon, Donald Trump’s new Chief Strategist, said he will not be attending a political conference at Harvard’s Kennedy School on Wednesday.

The decision follows a recent announcement by Harvard students who said they were planning to peacefully protest Steve Bannon’s arrival.

More than 4,000 people were “interested” in a Facebook event titled “Protest Stephen Bannon & Trump Advisors at Harvard,” and more than 1,000 said they were attending.

The description of the Facebook event says the following:

Trump brought racist ideologues into the mainstream. By treating this situation as normal, Harvard is normalizing what Bannon stands for. We do not accept hate and bigotry as normal or legitimate. Come peacefully protest. Then help us organize.

It is unclear why Bannon will not be attending the event.
