A 9-year-old bat boy for a Wichita, Kansas, baseball team has died after he was accidentally hit in the head by a bat on Saturday afternoon.
Kaiser Carlile died Sunday evening.
He was on the field during a game, picking up a bat from a player who had just struck out.
Carlile was hit in the head as another player took practice swings.
He was wearing a helmet.
Members of the team staff immediately swarmed around the boy after the incident.
The home plate umpire, who is a paramedic, treated the boy until an ambulance arrived.
