The Political Action Committee "Draft Biden," unaffiliated with Biden, is pulling its first ad at the Vice President’s request. The group hoped the ad would urge the vice president into entering the 2016 race.
The ad is aimed at highlighting Biden’s resilience, showcasing the moment in 1972 when a car crash killed his wife and daughter and left his two sons seriously injured. Biden, who had just been elected to the US Senate for the first time, decided to serve amid this tragedy.
According to the LA Times, a source close to the Vice-President says that he thought the ad, quote, "treads on sacred ground."
In a statement the senior adviser to the group said, "Nobody has more respect for the Vice President and his family than we do. Obviously we will honor his wishes."
A source close to the Vice President says he is planning on meeting with his family this weekend to talk about a possible 2016 presidential bid. Biden won’t participate in the first Democratic debate next Tuesday but could make a decision within days.
