The mild air didn’t work in everywhere today, but it did manage to melt most of the snow we picked up last night, turning the streets into a sloppy mess.  Temps did make it into the mid 50s in SE Mass., however, dense fog and low clouds made it feel gloomy throughout the day too.  *Sigh* The cold is back tomorrow.

A cold front makes its way through overnight tonight and that will help temps to steadily drop through Monday, bringing us back to the 20s by evening.  It will also be gusty throughout the day, with a wind out of the west at 15-25 mph and gusts up to 40 mph possible.  At least there will be a little sunshine… just a little.

Once the cold comes back tomorrow, it’s here to stay.  No more “mild” storms on the horizon.  That means if moisture works in, then we see snow rather than rain.  This is the case on Tuesday and Wednesday with some light snowfall expected.  Wednesday’s snow (if it develops) will likely favor coastal locations, but won’t amount to much.

The cold, the light snowfall… up until Thursday it’s all fairly normal for this time of year.  Then Thursday arrives.  Th-th-th-ursday will be the real talker.  Just thinking about it makes my teeth chatter.  A bitter blast works in overnight Wednesday and will take our morning lows down below zero in many locations.  It looks like lows will be between -5 and 5 degrees, and highs will be in the tweens/teens.  That’s the kind of cold you can bundle up for, but we also have to factor in the wind chill… taking the real feel of temps down to around -15 to -25!

YIKES.  Get ready for that.  Personally, I’ll be speed-knitting my own scarf, and probably one for my cat.  Have a great night!  – Bri
