Gov. Charlie Baker led a celebration of black history Wednesday at the State House to commemorate Black History Month.
Baker was joined by other lawmakers in recognizing past and present black leaders from Massachusetts. A ceremony was also held to honor black educators and city councilors.
Speakers stressed the importance of recognizing black history all year and not just during February.
