Do you hold off as long as possible before turning on the heat each Fall?  If you haven’t thrown it on yet, this weekend will likely be your breaking point as the coldest air of the season arrives.  For those of us who have allowed to the heat to kick in for weeks now, well, it’ll just work a bit harder in the days/nights ahead.

We’ll start this weekend off with an early morning batch of clouds and an isolated sprinkle/light shower, then partly to mostly sunny skies late morning, into this afternoon.  The breeze switches to the west/northwest this afternoon and increases to gust 20-25mph.  Temps this afternoon range from 48 in the higher terrain to the mid 50s near the coast.

Chilly air settles in tonight with many towns falling to around 30 degrees.  There’s a freeze warning for much of eastern Mass, aside from the Boston Metro area/Cape/Islands for tonight.  Tomorrow night will be even colder with a freeze watch in effect for even Boston, the Cape and the Vineyard.

Despite some sunshine tomorrow, temps will struggle to warm as highs only reach near 40 in Worcester and the mid to upper 40s in Boston and along the coastline. The breeze is active again, adding a bit more of a chill to the air.  With a cold day in place, it’ll certainly be a cold night with temps falling to the low to mid 20s in the burbs and near freezing in Boston by daybreak Monday. Cold, but not quite record cold.

Monday afternoon is cool, but not that windy, and by Tuesday, we’re back to 60.

I don’t see much rain in the forecast ahead, aside from a few possible showers on Thursday.

Enjoy the weekend, and gooooooo Pats!!!!!!!!!!!!
