MILTON, Mass. (WHDH) — Search and rescue crews found the body of a man they were searching for in a Milton pond Monday night. They said the man went into the pond and didn’t return to his family.

Officials said they pulled the man out of the water. Witnesses said it was 7:20 when the man went into the pond. There was no lifeguard on duty when they started noticing him drowning.

They said the pond has a steep drop off.

“He was out of the line where it says swim area, so I think he couldn’t touch,” said one witness.

They called 911 as soon as they saw him. Witnesses said the family said the father was in his 30s and was at the pond with his wife and kids.

“His family was screaming at him, “Come out!” I think he couldn’t come,” said another witness.

All they could see were his hands.

“He was down. I screamed in to the 911, I said “come right now because he can’t come out,’” said a witness.

The man’s identity has not been released.
