FALMOUTH, Mass. (WHDH) – The body of a missing Brown University student was found washed ashore in Woods Hole Sunday afternoon.
The identity was confirmed to be that of 21-year-old Dana Dourdeville. A volunteer search party found him between the Cape Cod Canal and Woods Hole in the Falmouth area.
Police had been searching for the missing student since his kayak turned up after he went duck hunting on New Year's Eve near Fairhaven. His mother found his car parked at West Island State Beach, and the U.S. Coast Guard found his kayak about 2 1/2 miles east of West Island.
Police added that there is no evidence of trauma.
Bill Tilden, a friend of Dourdeville's, described the avid hunter as a superman of sorts. A well-rounded athlete and a brown university student with a big heart. "He just brightened up a room. It didn't matter how bright that room was already. When he walked in, he had that smile on his face. He was always looking forward to his next endeavor," said Tilden.
Officials blocked off access to the Penznance Point exclusive gated community while they conducted their investigation.
