DORCHESTER, Mass. (WHDH) — A source confirmed to 7News that a gun found in a car in Springfield is the murder weapon from a double homicide in Boston in 2012 that authorities believe Aaron Hernandez has a connection to.
According to a State Police report, the 38 caliber revolver was found inside Jailene Diaz-Ramos’ car in Springfield after a crash in June.
The State Police arrest report stated Diaz-Ramos “gave a ride to a friend named ‘Chicago’ and his buddies. She stated they are football players and they put all their belongings in the trunk…She was uncooperative and attempting to make contact with ‘Chicago’.”
She was charged with illegal possession of a firearm.
One source said the gun was sent for ballistics testing and it was found to be the gun used to kill two men outside a nightclub in Boston. Authorities believe Hernandez is tied to that case through a car he may have rented.
The District Attorney’s office only said the double homicide on Herald Street remains under investigation. No one has been charged and the case is still in front of a grand jury.
Hernandez is currently being held without bail on first-degree murder charges in the death of Dorchester man. The victim’s body was found about a mile from Hernandez’s North Attleboro home. The former Patriots star pleaded not guilty to the charges.
