BOSTON (WHDH) - The Boston Fire Department is doing all it can to help Orlando in the wake of a mass shooting at a gay nightclub.
On Monday, Boston sent two peer support firefighters there to provide support for first responders.
Boston Fire Commissioner Joseph Finn explained what they are doing in Orlando.
“They basically deal with helping talking through the situation with the firefighters who actually responded to Pulse nightclub and what they have seen, dealing with trauma, get the individual firefighters to open up a bit about what was going on, to help them basically debrief, to deal with the emotions and the feelings that are going through them right now,” Finn said.
Finn said the New York Fire Department did a similar thing for them after the Boston Marathon bombings.
