BOSTON (WHDH) - Boston is holding its annual Fourth of July celebration on the Esplanade Monday.

The Boston Pops concert begins at the DCR Hatch Shell at 8:30 p.m.

Performers include Little Big Town, Demi Lovato, and Nick Jonas.

The fireworks display will begin over the Charles River at 10:30 p.m., and it will last for 30 minutes.

The events are free and open to the public. Admittance will be granted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

There are two secured areas for the event—The Oval and the Island/Lagoon. Spectators entering these areas will be required to pass through a bag check, and will receive a wristband.

The Oval will be located between the Lagoon’s Clarendon Footbridge and the Berkeley Footbridge. Individuals can enter the checkpoint by accessing the Esplanade from Berkeley Street after 4 p.m.

Those arriving to the Esplanade prior to 4 p.m. should use the Dartmouth or Fairfield Footbridges over Storrow Drive.

The Island/Lagoon checkpoint will be located on the Island/Lagood by the Clarendon Bridge. It can be accessed from Berkeley Street after 4 p.m., or from the Dartmouth or Fairfield Footbridges before 4 p.m.

The checkpoints will open Monday at 9 a.m.

The Boston Pops will also hold a concert Sunday night from 8:30-10 p.m. There will be no fireworks display at that concert.

No backpacks, coolers, or shopping bags will be allowed on the Esplanade. Click here for a full list of prohibited items.
