Get a parking ticket in Boston? Now there is an app to pay them.

On Thursday, Mayor Marty Walsh’s office announced the launch of Boston PayTix, a smartphone app that lets users pay parking tickets.

The app also reminds users of payment deadlines to help violators avoid late fees.

The app is available on Apple App Store or Google Play.

The move comes after the city saw a steady increase in payment of parking tickets through TicketZen, a partnership that allowed violators to pay through the app while it was still in development.

In a statement, Chief Information Officer Jascha Franklin-Hodge said:

"While it’s never fun to pay a parking ticket, we want to make sure that every digital interaction with the City of Boston is friendly, convenient, and fast," said Chief Information Officer Jascha Franklin-Hodge. "PayTix joins BOS:311, Trash Day, and ParkBoston as essential mobile apps for people who live or work in Boston."
