Boston man killed in canoe accident in Littleton

LITTLETON, MA (WHDH) — Emergency crews have recovered the body of a Boston man in a canoe accident Saturday night.

The 23-year-old man went out in his canoe by himself on Fort Pond at around 7 p.m. and was declared missing at approximately 9:30 p.m.

Littleton Police and Fire departments searched the area extensively and later recovered the man’s body approximately 20-30 feet from shore.

Littleton Police Chief Matthew King called the events tragic.

“This is a tragic ending to a holiday weekend adventure,” he said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families involved, and we ask everyone to remain extra vigilant as their weekend continues.”
