The Greater Boston Convention and Visitors Bureau estimates the Boston Marathon will bring an estimated $188 million to the Greater Boston region.

This year more than 30-thousand people will participate in the world’s oldest consecutively run marathon.

The GBCVB said more than 6,400 runners are from 98 countries which offers "unparalleled international exposure."

The bureau estimates spending on Marathon-related events to top $103 million with charity fundraising expected to reach $28 million.

Media from more than 200 outlets are expected to cover this year’s marathon.
