A Boston police officer is in handcuffs on charges that he pointed a handgun at a Roxbury couple Wednesday night.
Mikia Steed claims that the suspect, Sandro Fonseca, 30, was drunk Wednesday when he pointed a handgun with a “laser beam sight” at her and her husband.
The mother of two said that the police officer–who was off duty at the time–is a neighbor on Forest Street. She is now afraid to go home.
“It is frightening. I don’t know who to trust. If I would have known he was a cop I would have been afraid to tell the dispatcher where I was,” Steed said.
Mikia and her husband went before a court Thursday to get a restraining order, but their request was denied.
“I’m really afraid and he’s my neighbor, I have to walk out and see this cop who is probably going to lose his career,” Steed said.
Fonseca was charged with two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon. He was arraigned in Roxbury District Court on Thursday. His bail was set at $5,000 cash and he is required to surrender all firearms. He has also been ordered to not drink any alcohol.
Fonseca has been put on administrative leave pending a further investigation.
