BOSTON (WHDH) - Wednesday was an exciting day for the Boston Police Department, as 37 officers were promoted.
The men and woman were honored by Mayor Walsh and Commissioner Evans and received their new pins with family members and fellow officers to celebrate their rise in the ranks of the department.
Mayor Walsh congratulated the officers and said it is their hard work that has led to a decrease in violent crimes in Boston.
The promotions included three new captains and five lieutenants in the force.
