BOSTON (WHDH) - Boston Police officers visited a special patient at Boston Children’s Hospital Tuesday who got the chance to be a “Police Chief for a Day.”
Owen Nichols, 6, has spent the past 10 weeks at the hospital undergoing 18 surgeries to correct a birth defect.
Owen loves the police, so his friends from the Polk County Sheriffs Department in Florida decided to send a care package up to Boston for him.
In the package were T-shirts, a badge, coloring books, a back pack, crayons, markers and much more.
The package was delivered by Boston Police Sergeant Silta, who also presented him with a Boston Police shirt and badge and promoted him the be Chief for the day.
Nichols’ first order of business was to have free ice cream for the hospital, so Sergeant Silta arrived with an truck load of JP Licks ice cream and treated the whole hospital to a cup of ice cream.
Police said Nichols was a great Police Chief.
