BOSTON (WHDH) - The City of Boston is testing wastewater more frequently to look for signs of COVID-19.

The Public Health Commission told the City Council its stepping up 11 neighborhood water testing sites throughout the city.

BPHC is working to take weekly samples to determine the prevalence of the virus in each area and analyze for variants.

Experts say wastewater analysis was one of the best ways to predict outbreaks of COVID-19 early in the pandemic.
