BOSTON (WHDH) - Last minute preparations are underway for the Boston Pops Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular.
Thousands of people are expected to watch the dazzling display over the Charles River Monday.
In the wake of terror attacks in Boston and abroad, security is a top priority.
While state police and other law enforcement agencies want everyone to have a good time, security is on the minds of everyone.
“We’re certainly aware of things that are going on around the world, and it does sort of factor into our plan,” Sergeant Tom Ryan of the Massachusetts state police said. “We’re not aware of any specific threats to this event, but that being said we’re certainly on a heightened sense of vigilance out here.”
State police are encouraging those planning on attending the event to review the list of prohibited items. Included in the list are drones, alcohol, and rolling coolers.
