A two-year-old boy had a close encounter with a lion at a zoo in Chiba, east of Tokyo.
After a staring contest, the male lion runs toward the boy and tries to jump on him, but he hits a glass wall that separates the animal from human visitors.
Zookeepers say the lion weighs more than 400 pounds and has a habit of frolicking when he sees small children because he wants to play with them.
The zoo set up the glass display back in April to enable visitors to get a closer look at lions.
