BOSTON (WHDH) - Boston police arrested four men and recovered three guns in Roxbury Sunday morning.

According to police, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force were on directed patrol in Mission Hill when they saw a group of men gathered in a parking lot.

The officers approached them to speak to them, and four of the men separated and began to run.

Two separate foot chases of the men ensued.

One of the men, 23-year-old Lee London of Roxbury, was known to the officers due to past acts of violence and multiple firearm violations. Lee ran behind a nearby home and allegedly placed a gun inside a gas grill before continuing to flee from police.

Officers later recovered a loaded handgun from inside the grill.

Three other individuals, later identified as 20-year-old Jawuan McIver-Bennet of Roxbury, 19-year-old Josiah Watkins of Roxbury, and a 17-year-old juvenile from Dorchester, ran toward Saint Alphonsus Street and cut through a nearby college campus.

Police were able to place all four suspects in custody after lengthy pursuits that cut through a playground, a housing development, four lanes of traffic, and MBTA trolley tracks on Huntington Avenue.

The officers called for assistance from the BPD K-9 Unit, and within a matter of minutes, a K9 was able to recover two additional loaded guns that had been thrown behind a building on Huntington Avenue.

London was charged with carrying a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and trespassing.

Mc-Iver Bennet and Watkins were charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and trespassing. The juvenile was charged with delinquent to wit: unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and trespassing.

All four suspects will be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
