BOSTON (WHDH) - The Boston Police Department reached out to help a local teen fighting cancer.

Jake Rackaukas, 16, was diagnosed with brain cancer. He and his family received a $5,000 check from Cops for Kids with a Cancer. The organization raises money to help families who have children battling cancer, providing funds for treatment.

The check was present to Rackaukas and his family by Bob Flaherty, a retired Boston Police superintendent and the organization’s former chairman.
