BOSTON (WHDH) - The Boston Police Department released new video in the investigation into a rough incident involving a police officer earlier this year.

Back in May, Officer Edward Barrett was off duty when he chased after a pedestrian and tried to arrest him. Barrett claimed the man broke the glass of his car’s window when he tapped it with an umbrella. The entire incident was caught on video.

Just days ago, Commissioner William Evans announced the findings of an internal investigation that concluded Barrett did not use excessive force. While the man who filmed the video claimed Barrett tackled the man, Evans said video showed the pedestrian actually fell down.

Evans said he released more video because he wants the public’s trust.

“I think it comes through being very transparent, not having anything to hide,” said Evans.

Barrett is now back on the job. Evans said Barrett may undergo counseling.
