Braintree High School’s girls basketball team is looking for its second straight undefeated season, having won their past 61 games.

"I think you have to have that mentality when you step on the court," said junior guard Keelah Dixon. "I’m not going to lose, I’m not going to let this game go."

Leading the way is senior Brianna Herlihy, who has more than 1,000 career points. Herlihy is playing through pain this season and putting off back surgery to help her team pursue their third straight state title.

"I couldn’t even imagine sitting around and watching," said Herlihy, who will head to Villanova University in the fall and join big sister Bridget.

Head Coach Kristen McDonnell called Herlihy "a coach’s dream in every possible way."

"We’ve had word from her doctors that she is in a significant amount of pain and that’s the selfless part of her. You would have no idea she is going through that everyday," said McDonnell.
