Federal agents foiled an unusual human smuggling attempt.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers discovered an undocumented Brazilian man hidden in the gas tank of an SUV.
It happened Tuesday at the Calexico east port of entry along the Mexico-California border.
Officers were conducting an intensive inspection of the SUV, using the port’s imaging system when they discovered anomalies in the vehicles gas tank and under the rear seats.
The officers continued searching the area and discovered the man hidden inside the partially modified gas tank.
Both the driver of the SUV and the undocumented man were arrested.
