Now that’s what I’m talking about.

Refreshing air came to town on the heels of a brisk northeast wind today. Our high temperature was actually after midnight in Boston – coming in at a mild 72. Closer inspection of the temperatures however, shows that after they dipped to the mid 60s around sunrise, and then only managed to make it to 68 or 69 in the afternoon. That’s how much cooling power this airmass had on our high temperatures. For the record, water temperatures also took a hit, falling from the low 70s to the upper 60s this afternoon.

Yeah, the season is beginning to turn folks. Funny how that happens on final weekend of summer. Er, unofficially, that is.

The weekend setup has been well advertised by all media this week. From the start we were singing the praises of a dry, mild weekend – with a hot finish. It’s a simple forecast, really. Since there’s so little to bug and pester us, we could see this one coming the whole time.

The forecast won’t follow the calendar, however. As we head back to work and school, the heat continues to build. It gets downright uncomfy (and way out of season) by Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. I’m thinking a heat wave is a real proposition here, with a side of humidity and a complete course on haze.

Scrumptious, eh? This late in the season, I’m not sure a lot of folks will crack a smile over it. And I’m thinking the humidity will be a deal breaker late next week. Oppressive? Try tropical. But it should feed some beneficial rain too.

Fingers crossed.

Have a fabulous weekend and be safe!
