BOSTON — The brother of a woman who was allegedly strangled by James "Whitey" Bulger wiped away tears as a forensic anthropologist showed jurors photographs of his sister's skull after her remains were found in a watery grave.
Debra Davis disappeared in 1981. Her remains were found 19 years later. Davis' brother, Steve Davis, said that it was difficult for him to see the skull photographs, which showed some of her trademark blond hair.
“It was hard. It’s kind of easier to hear about it than it is to see it. She didn’t deserve it, you know,” said Steve Davis on Thursday.
Bulger is accused of participating in 19 killings in the 1970s and `80s while he allegedly led the Winter Hill Gang.
Earlier Thursday, Judge Denise Casper rejected a request from Bulger's lawyers to suspend his trial for two days so they can have more time to prepare for prosecution witnesses.
