BOSTON (WHDH) — James “Whitey” Bulger and his once-loyal right-hand man, Kevin Weeks, had an angry outburst in court during the reputed mobster’s racketeering trial Tuesday.

The outburst came in the cross-examination of the government’s 35th witness. Weeks was testifying that he was upset about helping Bulger kill people.

Weeks said, “Five people are dead. Five people are dead.”

Defense attorney J.W. Carney asked, “Does that bother you at all?”

Weeks: Yeah it bothers me.

Carney: How does it bother you?

Weeks: Because we killed people that were rats, and I had the two biggest rats right next to me. That’s why it —

As he tried to continue, Bulger hissed, “You [expletive]”.

Weeks responded saying, “[Expletive] you okay.”

Bulger: [Expletive] you, too.

Weeks: What do you want to do?

Judge Denise Casper stepped in and restored order and reminded Bulger that his lawyers are to speak for him in court.

“It was an experience that probably woke anyone up who was getting bored there,” said Steve Davis, an alleged victim’s brother.

Bulger has been warned before not to speak to the witnesses after he swore at John Martorano, but only prosecutors heard that outburst.

The exchange between Weeks and his former mentor was the most dramatic moment in the trial thus far, according to 7News reporter Jonathan Hall.

Weeks was on the stand for a second day in Bulger’s trial. He testified that there were times when Bulger would kill someone and then go upstairs and rest on a couch, leaving the clean up for everyone else.
