A burst pipe flooded a Haverhill school and caused heavy damage.

The flood destroyed hundreds of books, two dozen computes and other files at the Consentino Middle School.

Superintendent James Scully said the burst pipe also caused asbestos concerns.

Officials say a pipe in an heater burst, causing the damage in the library, hallways and offices.

However, the incident did not disrupt classes since students are on vacation this week. A sprinkler at the Pentucket Lake school also burst flood a classroom.

An asbestos removal team has been called in to clean up the mess and officials are working to prepare the school for students returning on Feb. 22.
