What a day yesterday turned out to be weather-wise as we watched two rounds of severe storms push through.  One round across Rhode Island and Southeast Mass, as well as a cell near Danvers/Peabody, in the morning, and then second round in the afternoon closer to and north of the Mass Pike.  Damaging wind gusts, large hail and street flooding were the most common reports.  We even had a water spout in Boston Harbor, just northwest of Hull.  The hail was very impressive too… golf ball size hail stones were seen in much of the Boston metro area!

The pattern is much quieter this morning as low humidity and sunshine have taken over our skies.  Although the threat for severe thunderstorms is much lower today, there is a disturbance to our west that has to swing on through this afternoon, and that'll spark off a brief passing shower or thunderstorm for about 30% of the area.  I don't expect a repeat of yesterday, as lower humidity and drier air moving in should limit the storm potential.  With that said, it's still anomalously cold aloft, so a gust of 30-40mph and pea size hail is possible in one or two storms.

Thursday looks like a beauty with low humidity and sunshine.

The weekend looks cooler with highs in the low 70s coast, upper 70s inland.  While I think most of the weekend turns out dry, it's a close call with a storm to our southeast.  That should throw more clouds in the mix, and perhaps a few showers over Southeast Mass on Saturday.  We'll keep an eye on it, but it certainly looks like a cooler pattern whether we see some rain or not.

Enjoy the lower humidity.
