Two men are facing criminal charges after Cambridge police say they were arrested in connection with investigations into two separate break-ins and the theft of multiple bicycles.

Officers responding to a reported break-in on Green Street on Friday morning arrested Raymond Batista, 55, of Cambridge, who was determined to be wearing clothing from an earlier break-in on Franklin Street, police said.

He was also allegedly found to be in possession of two bicycles, one of which had been reported stolen out of the Franklin Street apartment. The other was reported stolen from an apartment on Douglas Street.

Witnesses said a resident of the Franklin Street home found Batista in the basement testing locks on storage units. Earlier in the morning, two residents said they were asleep when they were awoken by a loud noise in their kitchen. The suspect, later identified as Batista, was seen poking his head inside the kitchen window, which had been inched forward.

Batista is facing several charges including breaking and entering during the daytime for a felony and larceny over $1,200.

On Thursday, officers responding to a reported break-in on Brattle Street arrested Philippe Rosier, 58, of Cambridge, after it was determined he had entered the house overnight while a family slept and was found inside by the homeowner when they returned from a function.

He will be charged with unarmed burglary.

Cambridge police are reminding residents who intend to travel for the holidays ensure doors and windows are locked, confirm any outside sensor lights are working properly, and to always report any suspicious activity.
