Bill Cosby’s wife Camille was ordered back for a second day of questioning next month after spending Monday talking to lawyers in Springfield.

Cosby lost a last-minute bid to avoid answering questions in the civil suit seven women filed against her husband for defamation. Joseph Cammarata, the women’s lawyer, said Cosby is the one person who can speak to her husband’s truthfulness.

Lawyers for Cosby argued that reporters staking out the hotel could intimidate her or cause emotional distress that would keep her from testifying effectively. The judge disagreed and found in favor of the women’s lawyer, who said Cosby may not be willing, but she is able.

The deposition took place in a sixth floor conference room of the Springfield Marriott. Cosby was holed up in the conference room for eight hours but lawyers said they only got around two-and-a-half hours’ worth of testimony from her. Lawyers also spent time discussing whether Cosby would be protected by marital privilege. While conversations between married couples are protected, Cosby also served as Bill Cosby’s business manager. Cammarata said Cosby asserted her marital privilege "more than a dozen times."

Fifty women have come forward with claims of sexual misconduct by Bill Cosby. One case has resulted in criminal charges against him.

Cosby’s deposition will resume on March 14.
