I stayed up late last night to watch the clock tick over to Tuesday… and to see the temperature hit 61° which will go down in the books as our high today. Most of us didn’t get to enjoy those temps in the 60s, because temps peaked during the wee hours of this morning. However, it stayed fairly mild throughout the day today… temps very slowly crawling closer to 50° this afternoon/evening. A mild day to enjoy, so long as you didn’t blow away! Temps will continue to fall tonight, into the upper 30s for most – and the wind will also be dying down.
Lighter winds tomorrow, more sunshine on tap… sounds like a great day, right? It will be! Only, it will be much cooler. Highs top out in the low to mid 40s – but it’s still worth noting that this is still above average for this time of year. We’ll notice the cooler air, but it will still be yet another "orange" box will go onto our calendar for December. Today we’re sitting at 9.1° above normal for the month of December!!
The next storm system drags a front through on Thursday, which will bring some showers for the afternoon/evening. Still, it’s rain again. Temps will be on the uptick as we get closer to the weekend. By the way, the first day of winter arrives on Monday (at 11:49PM)… so in preparation for winter, we have some more winter-like weather for the weekend. Highs will top out in the low 40s, and some blustery winds will take wind chills down into the 30s. Closer to "normal" for this time of year – but this round of cold is only visiting! (Did you see that coming?)
Looking at the long-range forecast and getting prepped for Christmas… WHAT is this??? Looks WACK! Models are hinting at flirting with 70° for Christmas Eve!! The record for December 21st is 61° set in 1996. So, while a White Christmas looks VERY unlikely (like maybe 1 in 1,000), we could break some records. Well, at least you don’t have to shovel mild temps.
