WEYMOUTH, MASS. (WHDH) - A car crashed through a drive-in in Weymouth Wednesday before later crashing and catching fire.
The driver appeared in court on Thursday.
The car drove off the road, through a fence and picnic benches at an ice cream shop and then skidded onto one family’s front lawn, just missing cars parked in the driveway.
Lisa Alisandratos, who lives at the home, said the crash sounded like an 18-wheeler rumbling by.
According to police, they found the car’s owner, Michael Cox, about a mile away from the scene, drunk.
One of the residents at the home said he tried to help Cox, but Cox refused.
Cox was arrested on charges related to the crash.
Residents were left to clean up debris left behind from the wild ride.
