CHATHAM, MASS. (WHDH) - A driver crashed into a tree in Chatham while driving under the influence of alcohol, according to a Facebook post by the Chatham Police Department.

Chatham Police report that Clarence Crowell IV, 22 of Chatham, was transferred to Beth Israel Hospital with serious injuries after crashing into a tree at 346 Sam Ryder Road shortly after midnight on Tuesday.

Chatham Police report Crowell faces several charges, including operating a car while intoxicated,  and that the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department is assisting in the investigation.

In a separate post, the department warns community readers to enjoy the holiday safely by not drinking and driving.
