SAUGUS, MASS. (WHDH) - State Police have confirmed a child was impaled by a branch in Saugus Thursday afternoon.

The 12-year-old boy was riding his bike at the Breakheart Reservation when he fell onto a tree branch. The branch impaled the boy’s chest.

The boy was alert and conscious when he was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital. He is expected to be OK.

The incident is now under investigation.
