While it’s cold again to kick off this Thursday morning, today’s chill will be easier to deal with as the wind gusts won’t be nearly as powerful.  Gusts that were frequently pushing 40-50mph late morning Wednesday will be closer to 20mph today.  Yes, still a breeze, but not nearly as strong.   While the wind wont be as strong, the trade off this morning is for more clouds and even some patchy very light snow/flurries rolling through.  Other than a dusting in spots, it won’t amount to much and we’ll return to partly sunny skies by the afternoon.

The weather’s relatively quiet through tomorrow, before we track the next storm in here late Friday night and Saturday morning. While a coastal low tracking southeast of Nantucket tends to be a favorable snow storm track for southern New England, this go around, that won’t be the case.  The overall set-up shows limited cold air available to support widespread snow, so we’ll most likely see enough milder ocean air provide mostly rain near/inside 495 to start with some wet snow possibly mixed in outside 495, especially in the higher terrain of Worcester County, points north and west. A slushy inch or two of snow is possible deep inland, but I don’t expect big totals to show up at this point.  Also, the movement of the storm seems fairly quick, allowing for rain and limited wet snow to taper off by early afternoon.   Tailgating at Gillette may be on the damp side, but the trend to dry out towards kickoff seems to be in our favor.

Cold air moves in early next weekend with some light accumulations possible with snow showers overnight Sunday/Monday morning.

Being a big ski weekend, you may be interested in what’s happening up north….  Well, the conditions and forecast look good as snow making has been on going the last few days and our rain in Southern New England is snow across Ski Country on Saturday.  It’ll turn cold on Monday though.
