BOSTON (WHDH) - Here in Boston, the city’s 75th annual official tree lighting in the Common happens tonight.

Mayor Marty Walsh, with the help of Santa Claus, will light the tree just before 8 p.m. Thursday night, followed by a fireworks display.

The tree arrived in Boston last week.

It is an annual gift from Nova Scotia to Boston since 1917.

A crowd of children, along with Santa Claus, gathered to watch the tree make it’s way to the Common.
