The recent weather may have you a little bummed out, but the 5 days of rain we’ve had is also 5 days of drinking of our lawns/gardens! But seriously, where did you think I was going with the title of this blog…??? :c) It’s another "rinse & repeat" day ahead of us, but we are continuing to whittle down the rain shortage for spring (so-far).
Here’s a look at some of the rain totals we’ve seen since this all started on Sunday:
It will be drizzly and damp again today, with clouds hanging around (feeling a little foggy). Temps are on the struggle bus today, and will likely not make it to 50°. To put that in perspective, normal for this time of year is in the low 60s! Someone sent me a tweet today that read, "This rain wouldn’t be so bad if it were just 10-15 degrees warmer!" I agree! But today we’ll have a NE wind component keeping temps cool and making it breezy, to even windy at times along the coastline.
That NE wind component coupled with high astronomical tides has prompted the NWS to issue a Coastal Flood Advisory for the 11pm high tide, Boston down through the South Shore, Cape and Nantucket.
Minor splash-over is possible on the most vulnerable coastal roads, two hours on either side of high tide.
As far as the rain goes today, the coverage area is a touch different. The first day it was north, the second day it was south… While the pattern is stagnant, at least Mother Nature has been creative! Today the threat for rain is SE of Boston. It looks like the center of the low is so far off-shore, that it’s mostly SE Mass., Cape Cod and the islands that end up with 0.25"-0.50" late afternoon through the evening hours.
I promise you, there is improvement on the way!! Friday’s highs could make it up to 60° in spots, and we may even squeak out a dry day! Enjoy your Cinco de Mayo. -Breezy
