CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WHDH) — As dozens of people pick up the pieces following a massive fire over the weekend in Cambridge, the city is reaching out to offer help.

Families were at Cambridge City Hall Monday, where city agencies assisted them. Fire victims are getting help with finding housing, transportation, health care and food.

“We picked up 12 kids from the hotel, took them to their schools. Right now, we’re making sure they’re fed,” said Cambridge Mayor E. Denise Simmons.

Many said they are struggling after the fire, as they try to recover from losing everything. One woman cried as she said she watched her home burn and now has no clothing for herself or her family. Another man said his mother lost the building where she had lived for 61 years.

“She has no car, no home, no clothes, she’s got nothing,” said Asia Ampey, whose 84-year-old mother lost her house.
