Some students in the Pembroke area are in a 4-H dog club that focuses on tricks and training, all to raise money and awareness for great causes.
A Round of of A-Paws 4-H Club of Plymouth County is not your average dog show.
The group keeps busy by visiting senior centers, and putting their pets through the paces for visitors.
“They can get lonely, so we bring our dogs and they can remember their dogs, and have fun with our dogs, so they have a special day,” said club-member Alia Murphy.
The club has been around for years, and they’ve reached hundreds by using dog tricks to fundraise, and have adopted war dogs that serve alongside soldiers.
They’ve also sent 280 care packages to our soldiers overseas.
“It empowers the kids. Everytime they accomplish something with their dog, they grow a little. And that’s why I do this,” said Cathy Acampora who works with the 4-H Club.
A Round of A-Paws is taking it to the next level.
They’re working on a play that the dogs will star in. The spy-thriller will debut at the Marshfield Fair this summer.
