Class Act:

Emily Cashell

Nominated by:

Judi McInnes

Nomination Story:

I would like to nominate one of my students for Class Act. Her name is Emily Cashell. She runs a Holiday Toy Drive to support Boston’s Children’s Hospital and The Jimmy Fund. This year marks her fifth year of doing the toy drive. Emily’s younger sister battled leukemia and spent many hours in hospitals. The experience led Emily to want to do something for children battling illness. She also works to support The Sibling Program at The Jimmy Fund which reaches out to the siblings of sick children since serious childhood illnesses affect the entire family. She is in the picture attached with her mother and sisters as they presented the first deliveries of toys this year to Children’s Hospital. Emily is a typical student in most ways, but her huge capacity for compassion sets her apart in a most exemplary way. I believe she would be a worthy recipient of the Class Act recognition.
