MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — The Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets is again releasing up to $500,000 in grants for agricultural programs that address water quality.
The proposals are due by Aug. 1.
The agency is seeking programs focused on regulatory compliance; agricultural non-point source pollution reduction; and economic and environmental viability on Vermont farms.
Eligible activities include organizational development, conservation equipment maintenance and on-farm conservation practice surveys. Non-profit organizations, farm associations and businesses are eligible for the grants.
Agriculture Secretary Anson Tebbetts says the program “helps provide partner businesses and organizations with the tools and resources they need to run conservation programs and impact change at the local level.”
The funding comes through the Clean Water Fund, which was created as part of Vermont’s Clean Water Act.
