WALES, Mass. (AP) — Authorities say one person has died of carbon monoxide poisoning and a second is being treated after falling ill in a Massachusetts home.

Firefighters responding to a 911 call found two unconscious people in the Wales home at about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Both residents were brought to the hospital where one was pronounced dead.

No names were released but authorities say the victims were an adult man and woman.

Pets in the house were also affected and brought to a veterinarian.

The source of the carbon monoxide remains under investigation but the state Fire Marshal’s office is looking at the heating system.
