BAR HARBOR, Maine (AP) — A Coast Guard helicopter has hoisted to safety a climber who fell from an 80-foot cliff at Acadia National Park.

A rescue team was attempting to rappel down the cliff to provide medical assistance, but needed help extracting the hiker. It happened around 1:45 p.m. Saturday.

A helicopter was launched from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and the crew hoisted the man into the aircraft. He was taken to a ball field in Bar Harbor, where medical personnel were waiting.

The man, who was not identified, is being treated at a hospital for arm and leg injury injuries.
