Brrr…. A cold start this morning meant a frosty start for some towns as temperatures dipped well into the 30s for many, outside the city of Boston.  In fact, the cold spots this morning reached the upper 20s at 29 in Lunenburg, 29.5 in Pepperell and even hitting 30 in Norwood.  The cold start is quick to erode as mostly sunny skies quickly pump up the temperatures, eventually reaching the mid 60s at the coast and low 70s inland.

Although some clouds mix in this evening,  I still think there will be enough breaks in the clouds for us to get a shot of the "Blood Moon".  It’ll be a combination of a supermoon (full moon at closest distance to Earth in orbit) and total lunar eclipse. As the moon passes into Earth’s shadow, the partial eclipse starts at 9:07pm, total eclipse from 10:11pm to 11:23pm, then back to a partial eclipse until 12:27am.  It’s the first Supermoon eclipse since 1982 and won’t happen again until 2033.  The copper/reddish tinge to the moon is thanks to the light in that wave length spectrum that is refracted through Earth’s atmosphere and onto the lunar surface.

More clouds are around tomorrow, and with a southerly breeze, it’ll be warmer and a bit muggy.  I can’t rule out a passing shower, but you’ll have more dry hours than wet.  We’ll have some scattered showers Tuesday too, with a higher chance of widespread showers/downpours Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning.  Winds Wednesday afternoon are strong and gusty out of the northeast, and with it coinciding with astronomically high tides, minor coastal flooding is possible.

While it’s still a bit of a ways out… we do need to watch what happens late next week.  There will be a massive, strong area of high pressure parked over southern Quebec, as well as an area of low pressure off the mid-Atlantic.  Just due to the large pressure difference, strong onshore winds will be likely, peaking Friday into Saturday.  With such a prolonged/strong onshore flow, east to northeast facing shorelines may experience more coastal flooding.  In addition, if that low to our south moves far enough north, a cold, heavy rain will also be possible.  Not a lock at this point, but certainly something to watch for.

Anyhow, enjoy the rest of the weekend and Goooooo Pats!!!!!!!
